This President’s day, we would like to honor President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who signed the Housing Act of 1937 as part of the New Deal. The Act provided government subsidies to local Public Housing Agencies, which enabled them to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing for low-income families, which helped alleviate financial hardships and curtail homelessness.
